In 1919 two Past Masters from Lodge Lockhart St John 248, Bro's Thomas Kemp and James Shaw with Past Master George Airth from Lodge 354 Caledonian Railway ,Glasgow. Approached Lodge 167 Biggar Free Operatives and Lodge 187 St John ,Carluke to sponsor the new Lodge which they agreed to do,On Saturday 6th December 1919 in the Carstairs Railway Hall ,The first RWM Bro; Andrew Pollock Gray was installed into the chair of King Solomon. Past Grand Master of Scotland and Provincial Grand Master of Lanarkshire Bro; Hon Lord Newlands and representatives of 41 lodges approx 200 brethren were in attendance.The Installing Masters were the three founders of the lodge, Past Masters Bros; George Airth , Thomas Kemp and James Shaw.The harmony was held in the school hall , the collection for benevolence amounted to the sum of £1.04p which in those days was a considerable sum. RWM Gray was the local hotel keeper.
The Lodge held a Divine Service [ 1922 ] led by the Forth Brass band in procession
to Carstairs Parish Church
Also in 1922 A fatal accident occured to a brother with no known relatives in the village, The Lodge purchased a Lair [ 316 ] from lodge benevolence.
In 1939 the Railway Hall was required for the war effort and the Lodge moved and met in the Lodge rooms of Lockhart St John 248 Carnwath. Returning to Railway Hall for a short time the hall was aquired by the Railway Staff Association
whereas the Lodge again moved to Carstairs Village Hall, thereafter to the new Community hall Carstairs Junction.
Moving further to CO OP buildings for some time.
Through the space of time a piece of ground was purchased and Lodge rooms were built where we meet today
